Bauchi Governor Responds to Wike: “Nobody Can Destabilize Bauchi”

Governor Mohammed Responds to Wike’s Remarks: ‘Nobody Can Destabilize Bauchi’

Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, has firmly responded to comments made by the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike, affirming that nobody can destabilize Bauchi. This declaration comes amid a series of internal disputes within the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), particularly surrounding the influence and control of party affairs.

During a recent meeting with the National Working Committee (NWC) of the PDP in Bauchi, Governor Mohammed made it clear that his state remains strong and unshakable, despite any external provocations. “Nobody can put fire in Bauchi,” he remarked, emphasizing that Bauchi’s resilience is akin to its abundance of water—both unwavering and deeply rooted.

Political Tensions Amid Party Conflicts

Governor Mohammed’s statement comes just weeks after Nyesom Wike accused fellow PDP governors of meddling in matters related to the control of the party structure in Rivers State. Wike’s comments, which stirred significant controversy, were made during a PDP meeting held in mid-August. He had expressed dissatisfaction with the declaration of Siminalayi Fubara as the leader of Rivers PDP, which led him to organize a separate congress to tighten his grip on the party’s affairs in the state.

Despite these ongoing tensions, Mohammed highlighted that his relationship with Wike remains cordial and professional. “My friend is my friend, my job is my job, and leadership is leadership,” he noted, stressing that personal grievances should not be mistaken for political discord. The governor was quick to remind his audience that leadership exists precisely to address crises and that the current disagreements within the party are not unusual.

PDP’s National Working Committee Backs Governor Mohammed

The PDP Legal Adviser, Kamaludeen Ajibade, SAN, who led the delegation of the NWC to Bauchi, acknowledged the governor’s leadership within the party and his handling of these internal disputes. Ajibade revealed that the purpose of their visit was to commend Governor Mohammed for his efforts as Chairman of the PDP Governors’ Forum. “A lot of things have been going on in our party, and we cannot pretend that all is well,” Ajibade stated, indicating that the party’s challenges are being addressed.

Ajibade expressed confidence that the steps taken by Governor Mohammed and the PDP Governors’ Forum would be fully supported by the National Working Committee, ensuring that the party remains united and effective in the face of challenges.

Conclusion: No Fire in Bauchi

Governor Mohammed’s firm response to Wike’s remarks has underscored his commitment to maintaining stability in Bauchi and ensuring that personal disagreements do not destabilize the state. His leadership within the PDP, especially during this period of internal party crises, has been recognized by the National Working Committee as essential to navigating these turbulent waters. Despite the political storm, Bauchi stands firm, as its governor assures, “Nobody can destabilize Bauchi.”
