Abia State to Implement N70,000 Minimum Wage Starting October

In a move fulfilling Governor Alex Otti’s commitment, the Abia State Government is set to begin paying a N70,000 minimum wage to all workers in October, alongside plans to enhance the state’s justice and healthcare systems.

The Abia State Government has officially announced that it will begin paying the N70,000 minimum wage starting October. This decision, aimed at uplifting the welfare of workers, aligns with Governor Alex Otti’s earlier promise to improve the livelihood of all state employees. According to the state’s Commissioner for Information, Prince Okey Kanu, this new wage structure will benefit workers across all categories.
The implementation of the Abia State minimum wage marks a significant step towards fulfilling the administration’s labor promises. At a recent press briefing, Commissioner Kanu confirmed that the wage increase would apply to all workers in the state, a clear demonstration of the government’s commitment to bettering employee conditions.
In addition to the Abia State minimum wage increase, the state is launching several other projects to improve its infrastructure. This includes the construction of 17 court halls across various local governments, aimed at strengthening the administration of justice and ensuring efficiency in legal proceedings.
The state’s efforts extend beyond just the Abia State minimum wage, with the Ministry of Health planning a free medical outreach in Ugwunnagbo next week. This initiative is part of a broader strategy to enhance public health services and provide essential medical care to underserved areas.
