APC Urges Yiaga Africa to Cease Challenging Edo Election Results

APC calls on Yiaga Africa to stop questioning the credibility of the Edo election results

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has issued a firm warning to Yiaga Africa, a civil society organization, urging them to desist from questioning the credibility of the recently concluded Edo State governorship election. According to the APC, the electoral process was transparent and free of irregularities, and the continuous criticism from Yiaga Africa serves only to create unnecessary tension.

The APC maintained that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) conducted the election in accordance with established rules, ensuring a level playing field for all political parties. In their statement, the party expressed disappointment over Yiaga Africa’s recent remarks, which it claims undermined the integrity of the electoral process.

Yiaga Africa, a prominent election monitoring group, had raised concerns over some aspects of the election, pointing to alleged irregularities in certain areas. However, the APC insists that these claims are baseless and do not reflect the overall credibility of the process.

“The people of Edo have spoken through the ballot, and it is important that all stakeholders respect the outcome of the election,” an APC spokesperson said. “We urge Yiaga Africa and other observers to accept the results in good faith and stop questioning the legitimacy of the election, as doing so could undermine the peace and stability of the state.”

The APC further emphasized that Yiaga Africa’s role as an election observer is important, but it should be conducted in a manner that fosters democracy rather than promoting doubt and unrest.

The call for calm and acceptance of the results comes as political observers continue to evaluate the aftermath of the Edo election, with many urging all parties to focus on governance and the well-being of the citizens.

As it stands, the APC maintains that the election was credible and reflects the will of the people, calling on all stakeholders, including civil society organizations like Yiaga Africa, to support the democratic process moving forward.
