Ministers on Edge as Tinubu Signals Upcoming Cabinet Shakeup

President Tinubu suggests an imminent cabinet reshuffle, urging ministers to engage the public more about his administration’s achievements.

Ministers in President Bola Tinubu’s administration are growing uneasy as he has signaled a likely cabinet reshuffle. This development has heightened speculation that some ministers may lose their positions as the President seeks to realign his team to better implement his policies.

During a recent Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting, Tinubu expressed dissatisfaction with the performance of several ministers. According to Bayo Onanuga, the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Tinubu stressed that more needs to be done to inform the public of his administration’s achievements, leading to the possibility of a Tinubu cabinet reshuffle.

Onanuga shared with journalists that while President Tinubu acknowledges the significant strides his government has made through various policy initiatives, he is concerned that these accomplishments have not been adequately communicated to the public. This has led to further discussions about a Tinubu cabinet reshuffle, which may be finalized before the country’s October 1 Independence Day celebrations.

In addition to reshuffling the cabinet, Tinubu’s government is also preparing to introduce key legislative bills, including the Economic Stabilisation Bill, which will see Tetfund contributing 3% to the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND). Meanwhile, foreign nationals residing in Nigeria are set to receive National Identification Numbers (NIN) for taxation purposes, further signaling a robust approach to economic management.

Onanuga, while avoiding specific dates, emphasized that President Tinubu has given strong indications of a forthcoming Tinubu cabinet reshuffle but refrained from confirming whether it would take place before October 1.

With anticipation growing, Nigeria’s political landscape is watching closely as Tinubu prepares to make strategic adjustments that could have lasting implications for his administration and the country at large.
