Delta Yahoo Syndicate Exposed for Trapping Teenagers – Police Report

Police reveal how fraudsters deceived teenagers with false promises of Bitcoin and Forex training in Delta State

The Delta fraud syndicate lures teenagers with false promises of training in Bitcoin and Forex trading, according to a statement by the Delta State Police Command. Public Relations Officer Bright Edafe shared details of the operation that led to the arrest of over 100 teenagers by the Nigerian Army at a facility falsely presented as an academy for financial education.

Police reports revealed that the teenagers, aged between 17 and 20, were deceived by operators of what has now been identified as a “Hustling Kingdom,” a notorious cybercrime training ground. The syndicate used social media agents who flaunted fake wealth, enticing youths from across the country to join under the guise of financial success training in cryptocurrency and forex trading.

The military’s involvement was triggered when one of the lured teenagers managed to reach out to a family member using a laptop provided by the syndicate. The family, alarmed by the situation, informed the authorities, leading to the arrest of 123 suspects, most of whom were young teenagers.

At the police station, Edafe explained how the Delta fraud syndicate lures teenagers by promising them financial education, only to subject them to exploitation and physical abuse. The operators reportedly restricted food and beat the teens, keeping them under their control to execute fraudulent online schemes.

Further investigations are underway to apprehend the masterminds behind the syndicate, though efforts to confirm arrests of the key operators remain unclear as of now. Similar arrests in other states, including Abia, have also been reported as part of the ongoing crackdown on internet fraud.

This widespread operation, exposing how the Delta fraud syndicate lures teenagers into cybercrime, marks a significant step in Nigeria’s efforts to combat internet fraud targeting young, vulnerable individuals.
