Jonathan Clarifies Suspension of Sanusi Over Financial Recklessness Allegations

Former President Jonathan disputes Sanusi’s claims of dismissal over missing oil revenue, explaining the real reasons behind the suspension.

In a recent discussion, Jonathan explains Sanusi’s suspension from the position of Central Bank Governor was due to financial misconduct, not the whistleblowing claims surrounding missing oil revenue. According to Jonathan, the decision to suspend Sanusi came after the Financial Reporting Council flagged financial irregularities under his leadership.

Former President Jonathan, speaking at a book launch, reiterated that no substantial amount of money was missing from government accounts as alleged by Sanusi. He pointed out that Jonathan explains Sanusi’s suspension was triggered by discrepancies in the CBN’s financial handling rather than any effort to suppress claims of lost funds.

The incident dates back to 2014 when Jonathan explains Sanusi’s suspension followed after Sanusi’s allegations of $49bn missing from oil revenues were proven inaccurate.
