Ruth Ogunleye, a former Nigerian Army soldier, has come forward with a story of courage, recounting her experience of alleged harassment by a senior officer during her time in service. Facing Unwanted Advances and Retaliation
Ruth’s refusal to accept her superior’s inappropriate advances marked the beginning of a challenging chapter in her career. On several occasions, she was pressured into meetings where her superior attempted to sway her with promises of financial support and career advancement in exchange for an intimate relationship. Ruth stood her ground, citing military regulations that strictly forbid such relationships between officers and their subordinates.

The Nigerian Army later granted Ruth a medical discharge, allowing her to leave with her dignity intact and ensuring her access to pension benefits after years of service.
