Abia Labour Party Rejects Abure’s Primary Election Committee, Cautions Aspirants

The Labour Party (LP) faction in Abia State, led by Emmanuel Nweze Otti, has distanced itself from a committee allegedly formed by the Julius Abure-led faction to manage the upcoming primaries for the November 2 local government elections.

According to reports circulating on social media, Julius Abure had supposedly announced the creation of the committee, appointing Ceekay Igara, a former Abia State LP Chairman, as its head. However, in an interview with FLO 94.9 FM in Umuahia, Abia State LP Secretary, Rev. Andrew Ohiagba, dismissed the claims and urged party members to disregard the announcement.

Ohiagba clarified that the State Working Committee (SWC) was not involved in the decision to form such a committee and warned the public against dealing with anyone outside the officially recognized leadership under Emmanuel Nweze Otti.

Adding to the discussion, the party’s Publicity Secretary, Njoku StJerry Ajike, confirmed that the sale of forms for the election had begun but emphasized that aspirants should only visit the official party Secretariat. He advised against engaging with any alternative processes or announcements that do not originate from the offices of the State Publicity Secretary or the acting State Chairman.
