Pastor Adeboye Apologizes for Previous Statement on Tithing and Heaven

Pastor E.A. Adeboye retracts his earlier claim that non-tithe payers won’t make it to heaven, admitting it’s not in the Bible

Pastor Enoch Adeboye, the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, has issued a public apology for his previous statement about tithing, where he implied that non-tithe payers would not enter heaven. In a recent video circulating online, Pastor Adeboye apologizes for the tithing statement he made during a sermon earlier this year.

The apology comes after a video from July 2024 surfaced, where Pastor Adeboye firmly declared that “anyone who is not paying their tithe will not go to heaven, full stop.” He had urged fellow pastors to repent and ensure they teach their congregations about the importance of tithing.

However, in the new video, Pastor Adeboye apologizes for the tithing statement, admitting that it was not grounded in the Bible. While addressing his congregation, he expressed regret for his words, stating, “I apologize for saying, ‘If you don’t pay tithe, you won’t make it to heaven.’ I’m sorry, that’s wrong, and it’s not in the Bible.”

Pastor Adeboye further clarified what the Bible truly emphasizes about salvation, quoting the scripture that says, “Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see God.” By making this correction, Pastor Adeboye apologizes for the misunderstanding caused by his initial statement, ensuring his congregation and followers are properly guided by biblical principles.

The apology video has since gone viral, sparking conversations about the role of tithing in Christian faith. Pastor Adeboye’s move to address the error highlights the importance of aligning teachings with the scripture.
