Fubara is the True PDP Leader in Rivers, Says Bode George

Bode George calls for reconciliation between Governor Fubara and Nyesom Wike to restore harmony in Rivers State.

In a recent statement, Bode George, a key figure in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), affirmed the Governor Fubara leadership in Rivers PDP, distinguishing him as the true leader over his predecessor, Nyesom Wike. George’s comments come amid rising tensions in Rivers State following a political fallout between the two leaders, which has led to unrest and violent incidents, including the burning of local government secretariats.

On Channels Television’s Politics Today, George expressed deep concern regarding the escalating situation in Rivers State and highlighted the urgency for reconciliation between the two politicians. He asserted that only through unity can peace be restored. The recent violence coincided with the inauguration of newly elected local government officials, underscoring the fragile political climate.

George emphasized that for Governor Fubara to effectively lead the PDP in Rivers, he must receive unwavering support from party members. “The question of leadership within the party is clear; it is not the minister but the governor who holds that position,” he stated. He believes that it is essential for all party members to rally behind Fubara to foster a stable political environment.

Efforts toward reconciliation have already been initiated, with George mentioning that he and other members of the PDP Board of Trustees (BOT) have made attempts to mediate between Fubara and Wike. “I reached out to the chairman of the BOT to facilitate a meeting with Fubara, and I spoke with Wike to arrange an appointment. Unfortunately, our plans have been delayed,” he shared.

Bode George’s remarks underscore the importance of Governor Fubara’s leadership in Rivers PDP in navigating the current political turmoil. He reiterated that the BOT is vital in addressing conflicts within the party, indicating that the path to harmony hinges on collaborative efforts and support for the current administration.
