Orji Kalu: Tinubu Understands Nigerians’ Hardship — He Tours Abuja at Night to Feel the Pulse

Senator Orji Kalu reveals that President Tinubu is aware of the economic struggles facing Nigerians and discreetly tours Abuja to assess the situation firsthand

Orji Kalu, the senator representing Abia North, has disclosed that President Bola Tinubu is fully aware of the economic difficulties currently being faced by Nigerians. According to Kalu, Tinubu makes efforts to personally assess the situation by moving around Abuja at night to understand the struggles of the common people.

In an interview with Channels Television, Kalu highlighted Tinubu’s hands-on approach to understanding the country’s challenges, emphasizing that the president does not distance himself from the public’s pain. “Tinubu understands Nigerians’ hardship and ensures he keeps in touch with what’s happening on the streets,” Kalu stated.

The senator acknowledged that the current economic hardship is not unique to Nigeria, pointing out that several other countries are still reeling from the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic. However, Kalu noted that wealthier nations are better positioned to handle the challenges due to their more robust economies.

“Let’s be honest, the economy has been tough,” Kalu admitted. “The government is working hard to reform the system and fix things, but it is causing temporary hardship for our people.”

He went on to explain that Tinubu, far from being disconnected, frequently travels around the capital without fanfare to get a real sense of the conditions Nigerians are facing. “Tinubu understands Nigerians’ hardship. He doesn’t just sit in his office — sometimes, he uses his car at night to observe what’s happening in Abuja. He’s not a president who is out of touch with the people.”

In a candid revelation, Kalu also disclosed that he earns N14 million monthly as a senator, an amount that includes both his salary and overhead costs. This statement comes amidst growing calls for Nigerian leaders to address the nation’s economic woes more transparently.

While the government continues its efforts to reform the economy, Kalu reassured Nigerians that President Tinubu remains focused on easing their struggles, emphasizing that the president’s nighttime excursions in Abuja are part of his commitment to understanding and addressing the people’s suffering firsthand.
