This statement followed viral rumors claiming that Lt. Gen. Taoreed Lagbaja had died from cancer, which reportedly occurred two days earlier in an undisclosed hospital. The Army has urged the public to refrain from spreading misinformation during this sensitive time, emphasizing the need for prayers for the COAS’s recovery.

Alongside addressing these false reports, the Army celebrated the distinguished careers of 15 senior generals who officially retired. The Nigerian Army refutes COAS death rumors, focusing instead on honoring these generals during a ceremony held at the Nigerian Army School of Artillery in Kaduna State. Among the retirees were 11 Major Generals and four Brigadier Generals.

He further acknowledged divine guidance in their careers and thanked President Bola Tinubu for the opportunity to serve under his leadership.
