The All Progressives Congress in Rivers State postpones its ward, local government, and state congresses, with new dates pending
The All Progressives Congress (APC) has postponed its planned elective congresses in Rivers State, with no new dates yet announced. Initially scheduled for October 26, 2024 (ward congress), November 2, 2024 (LGA congress), and November 9, 2024 (state congress), the party has opted to push these dates forward.
In a statement released on Tuesday, APC National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, confirmed the decision, noting that the APC postpones elective congresses in Rivers State to allow for further internal arrangements. According to him, “New dates for the congresses will be announced in due course,” but no specific timeline has been provided as of yet.
This development comes as the APC in Rivers State prepares for major political events, with these congresses aimed at electing new leadership at various levels. The delay suggests that more consultations may be needed before proceeding with the congresses.
As the APC postpones elective congresses in Rivers State, party members are expected to remain patient while awaiting further announcements regarding the new dates for the political exercise.
