President Bola Tinubu Unveils Seven New Ministerial Nominees Following Cabinet Restructuring

In a strategic move to reshape his administration, President Bola Tinubu has introduced new ministerial nominees to the National Assembly, following the recent dismissal of six ministers from his cabinet. This reshuffling includes a mix of experienced political figures and professionals poised to take on significant roles in addressing Nigeria’s pressing challenges.

The new appointees fill crucial vacancies, showcasing the President’s intent to bolster his administration’s effectiveness. Among the nominees, Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu stands out as the new Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, bringing a wealth of diplomatic experience to her role.

Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu is not only a distinguished diplomat but also a lawyer and businesswoman. Her previous roles include serving as Nigeria’s Ambassador to both Ghana and Spain, and currently, she represents Nigeria at the United Nations World Tourism Organization. Known for her impressive credentials, Bianca is also the widow of Biafran leader Chukwuemeka Odumegwu-Ojukwu.

Another notable nominee, Nentawe Yilwatda, is set to become the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction. His appointment marks the official conclusion of Betta Edu’s tenure, who was previously suspended. Yilwatda is an engineer with a strong community development background, having lectured at the Federal University of Agriculture, Makurdi.

Maigari Dingyadi, nominated for the Ministry of Labour and Employment, previously served as Minister of Police Affairs. With a solid political foundation, Dingyadi has also held significant roles, including representing Bodinga Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives.

Jumoke Oduwole, known for her expertise in industry and trade, is slated to take over the Ministry of Industry. Having served as the Special Adviser on Ease of Doing Business from 2019 to 2023, she brings valuable insights into enhancing Nigeria’s business environment.

Idi Maiha, an influential figure in the energy sector, will head the newly established Ministry of Livestock Development. His prior experience as the Managing Director of the Kaduna Refining and Petrochemical Company underscores his capacity to lead this pivotal ministry.

Yusuf Ata, an experienced educator and former Speaker of the Kano State House of Assembly, has been nominated as the Minister of State for Housing and Urban Development. His previous advisory roles in the Kano State government position him well to address housing challenges.

Finally, Suwaiba Ahmad, a lecturer at Bayero University and a gender advocate, has been appointed as the Minister of State for Education. Her extensive experience in academia and advocacy will be instrumental in shaping educational policies.

This cabinet reshuffle not only fills key positions but also reflects President Tinubu’s commitment to tackling pressing issues in governance and development across Nigeria.
