Tinubu’s Reign: A Steadfast Empire and an Emperor. It will difficult to Dislodge him in 2027. By Sule Lamido

As Nigeria approaches the 2027 elections, the challenge of dislodging Bola Tinubu seems increasingly insurmountable. Tinubu, who has established an unparalleled grip on the nation’s political and economic spheres, exhibits a bold defiance of conventional norms and national interests. His audacious approach underscores his self-made success story, which traces back to his days in Chicago and the gritty streets he navigated.

Tinubu’s political journey is marked by significant confrontations and victories. From battling the Alliance for Democracy and Afenifere to overcoming Obasanjo, he has shown an extraordinary capacity to dismantle obstacles. His triumph over Buhari at the APC convention is a testament to his formidable political prowess. Tinubu’s ascent was not merely a result of strategic maneuvering but a reflection of his unyielding resolve and capability to triumph over formidable opponents.

His tenure has seen him systematically dismantle established political frameworks and institutions. As the leader, Tinubu operates with an emperor-like dominance, transforming Nigeria into a domain where his authority is nearly unchallenged. His governance style is marked by a clear disregard for opposition, reinforcing his unassailable position.

The APC convention highlighted Tinubu’s strategic acumen. His assertion in Abeokuta, Ogun State, that it was his turn to lead Nigeria was a bold declaration of his ambition. Despite Buhari’s preference for Ahmed Lawan over Tinubu and his skepticism towards his own vice president, Professor Yemi Osinbajo, Tinubu’s victory was inevitable. Buhari’s inability to decisively support his choice further illuminated Tinubu’s dominance.

In essence, Tinubu’s presidency, achieved despite resistance from key figures like Afenifere and Obasanjo, illustrates his remarkable ability to overcome adversity. His position as president is a culmination of his relentless pursuit of power and his knack for overcoming barriers. As Nigeria looks towards 2027, Tinubu’s entrenched position suggests that challenging his rule will be a formidable task.
