PDP Engages with Peter Obi and Kwankwaso for 2027 Elections: Spokesman Confirms

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has initiated strategic discussions with former Kano State Governor, Rabiu Kwankwaso, and the Labour Party’s 2023 Presidential candidate, Peter Obi, in preparation for the 2027 general elections. This revelation came from the PDP’s Deputy National Publicity Secretary, Ibrahim Abdullahi, during a recent interview with Channels Television.

Abdullahi highlighted that the defection of key figures like Peter Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso before the 2023 elections was a significant factor in the PDP’s loss. He expressed optimism that the ongoing negotiations to bring these influential leaders back into the PDP fold would strengthen the party’s chances in the next election cycle.

“We suffered a major setback with the departure of Obi and Kwankwaso,” Abdullahi remarked. “Had they remained with us, we would likely have bridged the gap that led to our defeat. The current administration’s shortcomings only underscore the importance of unity within our party as we approach 2027.”

The PDP’s outreach to Obi and Kwankwaso is seen as a strategic move to consolidate the opposition and present a formidable challenge in the upcoming elections. The party remains hopeful that reuniting with these former members will position them to reclaim leadership and address the pressing issues facing Nigerians.
