Nigerian Lecturer Targets World Record with 150-Hour Non-Stop Lecture

Dr. Nsikak Akpan, a dedicated Nigerian academic, is set to break the 150-hour lecture world record, an ambitious attempt approved by Guinness World Records. He aims to surpass the previous record of 139 hours, 52 minutes, and 42 seconds, held by Indian Professor Arvin Mishra since 2014.

The marathon lecture, scheduled from September 23 to 30, will take place at Foreign Links College in Moro, Osun State. Dr. Akpan’s lecture will focus on “Relationships between Man’s Environment and Health”, a subject crucial to understanding the impacts of environmental degradation on human well-being. His goal is not only to set a new benchmark for the longest lecture but also to raise awareness about the importance of environmental conservation.

A graduate of Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Dr. Akpan has expressed his desire to give back to the academic community. He believes this 150-hour lecture world record attempt provides a platform to educate students and the global community on how environmental care directly affects human health.

“If we continue to neglect the environment, we are putting our health at great risk. Through this lecture, I hope to spark a conversation that leads to meaningful actions,” Dr. Akpan shared.

Should this feat be successful, it will not only break a world record but also highlight Nigeria’s growing influence in global academic achievements, further establishing the country in the Guinness World Records.
