APC Dominates Kwara Local Elections, Secures All Chairmanship and Councillorship Seats

In a sweeping victory, the APC wins Kwara local elections, securing all chairmanship and councillorship seats across the state’s 16 local government areas. According to the Kwara State Independent Electoral Commission (KWASIEC), the All Progressives Congress (APC) emerged as the dominant force in the elections held on Saturday, reaffirming its stronghold across the state.

KWASIEC Chairman, Mohammed Baba-Okanla, announced the results, confirming that the APC had won all 16 local government chairmanship positions and clinched all 193 councillorship seats. Five political parties participated in the elections, including the APC, Allied Peoples Movement (APM), People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Social Democratic Party (SDP), and the Accord Party.

“The APC wins Kwara local elections across all categories, including chairmanship and councillorship positions in every local government and ward of the state. We commend the people for their participation and the political parties for maintaining peace throughout the election process,” said Baba-Okanla.

Baba-Okanla went on to express appreciation for the peaceful conduct of the election. “We are grateful for the professionalism of the security agencies, which ensured a smooth process devoid of major incidents,” he said.

The APC wins Kwara local elections, with notable results coming in from various local governments. For instance, in Ifelodun Local Government, APC secured 22,524 votes, far outpacing PDP’s 2,727 and APM’s 482. Similarly, in Baruten Local Government, APC claimed 38,549 votes, leaving the PDP with 1,335 and APM with 665.

Comprehensive Breakdown of Results

Detailed results show the APC wins Kwara local elections decisively, with significant margins across the board. In Offa Local Government, the APC scored 22,400 votes, while Accord received 1,919, PDP 1,586, and APM 636. In Ilorin West Local Government, the APC’s dominance was evident with 50,128 votes, far ahead of PDP’s 4,202 and APM’s 1,882.
