Wike’s Camp Plans Legal Challenge as Fubara Installs Council Chairmen in Rivers State

The PDP faction led by Nyesom Wike rejects the recent council elections in Rivers State and vows to seek justice through the courts

Wike’s camp rejects the council election results in Rivers State, following the recent swearing-in of new local government chairmen by Governor Siminalayi Fubara. The faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) aligned with the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike, has expressed its discontent with the election outcome, vowing to challenge it in court.
Speaking through its Publicity Secretary, Kenneth Yowika, Wike’s camp rejects the council election results and maintains that the process was illegal from the start. They argue that the Federal High Court had ruled against the conduct of the election, making any actions taken by the state government null and void.

In response to the swearing-in of the newly elected council chairmen, Wike’s camp rejects the council election process and emphasized that they will pursue justice through the courts. According to Yowika, the Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission was visibly inactive on the election day, further confirming their stance that no legitimate election took place.

Yowika reiterated that Wike’s camp rejects the council election outcome, stressing their commitment to a peaceful resolution by awaiting the judicial process to ensure the rule of law is upheld.
