PDP Board of Trustees Urges Urgent NEC Meeting to Resolve Party Crisis

The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Board of Trustees (BOT) has recommended an urgent National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting to resolve the ongoing crisis within the party. The call for swift action was made by the PDP BOT Chairman, Senator Adolphus Wabara, during a recent meeting in Abuja. According to Wabara, the NEC meeting is crucial for addressing internal divisions, particularly concerning the leadership of the acting National Chairman, Umar Damagum, and the disciplinary actions needed for party members.

At the meeting, Wabara emphasized that party members summoned by the disciplinary committee should willingly cooperate, reaffirming the supremacy of the party. He also highlighted a recent engagement between the BOT and Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara, where the political landscape of the state and its impact on the PDP were discussed in depth.

The PDP, which has been facing internal rifts, has seen members split over leadership disputes and issues of accountability. The BOT believes that a united front can be restored through the recommended NEC meeting, thus allowing the party to realign its strategy and resolve key disagreements.

As the PDP BOT calls for an urgent NEC meeting, many are hopeful that this step will help in healing the party’s internal fractures and strengthening its political position moving forward.
