The decision aims to unify the party ahead of the critical Ondo gubernatorial elections
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has announced the postponement of its National Executive Council (NEC) meeting, initially set for Thursday at the party’s Abuja headquarters. The new date for the meeting is November 28.
This decision was made during a Tuesday night communique issued by the PDP Governors Forum. The postponement is intended to allow the party to concentrate on the upcoming Ondo gubernatorial elections scheduled for November 16, 2024. The communique emphasized the need for unity as the PDP aims to challenge the All Progressives Congress (APC) government in Ondo.
The governors and various party leaders, including members of the National Working Committee, Board of Trustees, and the National Assembly caucus, convened to discuss ongoing party dynamics and strategies. The NEC was expected to address the internal issues currently affecting the party.
Furthermore, Imam Auwal, a notable PDP member, has taken legal action to prevent the postponement of the NEC meeting, highlighting the tensions within the party as it navigates these challenges.
