As pressure mounts from supporters, Governor Bala Mohammed reflects on his potential 2027 presidential bid while focusing on strengthening the People’s Democratic Party (PDP)

Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State has recently addressed growing speculation about his possible candidacy in the 2027 presidential election. While he has yet to make a formal decision, Mohammed emphasized that if he does choose to run, his ambition will be unstoppable. Reflecting on his experience as the Chairman of the PDP Governors Forum, he noted that his main focus is currently on strengthening and unifying the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) to increase its appeal and competitiveness.

In a recent interview, Mohammed shared his perspective on the evolving political landscape and the pressures that come with it. “I haven’t officially declared any presidential ambition,” he stated, clarifying that although he vied for the nomination in the 2023 primaries, his current priority is fostering collaboration within the party.

Mohammed added that calls for him to step into the presidential race have only intensified, with numerous individuals and organizations encouraging him to lead. Yet, he remains focused on his role as governor, explaining, “If the time comes and I decide to run, no one will stop me. For now, I’m fully dedicated to my current responsibilities and to the growth of the PDP.”

Reflecting on his decision-making process, Mohammed highlighted his commitment to teamwork and national unity, indicating that he would only pursue the presidency if he felt it served the country’s best interests. He explained that his political ethos prioritizes consensus, emphasizing that no leader should feel superior to others.
