Police investigate Ondo prophetess as complications from church childbirth lead to fatal consequences for mother and newborn
The Ondo State Police Command has detained a local prophetess, Mrs. Folashade Adekola, in connection with a tragic incident involving the deaths of a woman, Jumoke Adesuwa, and her newborn during childbirth within her church. The incident, which unfolded at the prophetess’s church in Oke-Aro, Akure, has sparked a full investigation, as authorities seek to understand the circumstances surrounding the fatalities linked to the Ondo prophetess church death investigation.
According to police reports, the prophetess was apprehended after the deceased woman’s brother lodged a complaint. He alleged that his sister experienced severe bleeding complications following childbirth, which took place in the church rather than in a medical facility. Both the mother and the newborn lost their lives, raising concerns and intensifying the ongoing Ondo prophetess church death investigation.
Family members of the deceased reported that someone from the church initially informed the family that Jumoke had successfully delivered a child. However, upon arrival, relatives found her bleeding excessively. Efforts to save her life proved futile, as she was rejected by multiple hospitals due to her critical condition, ultimately passing away at the final hospital that admitted her. The remains of both mother and child have since been transported to a local mortuary.
The police, who are continuing the Ondo prophetess church death investigation, confirmed that Mrs. Adekola is currently under custody with the case transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further inquiries.
Family sources, speaking on condition of anonymity, expressed concern over the church’s lack of a suitable environment for childbirth, noting the poor conditions in the room where Jumoke gave birth. They are hopeful that the ongoing investigation will provide answers regarding the Ondo prophetess church death and bring justice for the deceased mother and her child.
