Federal University Lokoja’s Governing Council takes decisive action against misconduct to uphold ethical standards
The Governing Council of Federal University Lokoja has made the decision to terminate the employment of four lecturers over allegations related to misconduct, specifically involving examination and sexual misconduct. This measure, focusing on Kogi university lecturer misconduct, highlights the institution’s commitment to maintaining ethical standards and ensuring student safety.
During its recent council meeting, led by Senator Victor Ndoma-Egba, the governing body approved the dismissal following a thorough investigation. The inquiry into the lecturers’ actions was conducted last year, sparked by accusations of examination malpractice and sexual harassment, both serious breaches that the university could not overlook.
Acknowledging the diligent investigation, the council underscored that no form of unethical behavior would be tolerated within the university environment. Senator Ndoma-Egba expressed strong disapproval of any inappropriate conduct, urging the administration to address other pending cases, including one from the Faculty of Science, which has garnered public attention.
The council further emphasized its stance on safeguarding students, calling on all staff to maintain professionalism and reminding students of the importance of speaking up against any form of harassment.
