Distinguished Nigerians Celebrate at Kano Wedding of Kwankwaso and Mangal’s Children

The ancient city of Kano hosted a historic gathering of Nigeria’s top political leaders, business moguls, and diplomats as they celebrated the wedding fatiha of Aisha, daughter of New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) leader, Sen. Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso, and Fahad, son of Katsina industrialist, Dahiru Mangal. The Kano wedding of Kwankwaso and Mangal’s children on November 16, 2024, drew national attention and solidarity from notable figures.

Vice President Kashim Shettima, representing President Bola Tinubu, former President Olusegun Obasanjo, and former Vice President Atiku Abubakar were among the high-profile attendees. The ceremony took place at the Kofar Kudu Palace of the Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II, while the reception was held at the Kano Government House.

A Ceremony Rooted in Tradition and Grandeur

The wedding fatiha was solemnized by Kano State’s Chief Imam, Sani Zahradeen, after a bride price of ₦1 million was handed over by Vice President Shettima on behalf of the groom. The amount was received by Kano State Governor Abba Yusuf, who stood in for the bride.

The Kano wedding of Kwankwaso and Mangal’s children was attended by dignitaries including Katsina Governor Umar Radda, Speaker of the House of Representatives Tajudeen Abbas, and former Senate Presidents David Mark and Bukola Saraki. Other notable guests included former state governors like Ahmed Makarfi, Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, and Adamu Aliero, along with prominent senators and ministers.

Obasanjo’s Solidarity Statement

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo captured attention at the event by donning the symbolic red cap of the Kwankwassiya Movement and a white garment matching the movement’s signature attire. This gesture sparked discussions, with many speculating whether it was a political statement or a display of social camaraderie.
