Atiku to Bode George: I am Committed to Nigeria’s Present Challenges, Not 2027 Politics

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has made it clear that his current priority is addressing the overwhelming challenges facing Nigerians, rather than focusing on the 2027 elections. Atiku, a prominent figure in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), responded to comments made by Chief Bode George, a senior member of the party’s Board of Trustees, who advised him to step aside for a younger candidate in the next presidential race.

Atiku’s Media Adviser, Paul Ibe, conveyed that Atiku’s main concern lies with the pressing needs of Nigerians who are suffering from severe hunger and deprivation due to the failed policies of the current administration. He emphasized that it is inappropriate to discuss 2027 elections when the immediate and critical issues of 2024 and beyond are far from resolved. Atiku believes that the focus should be on rectifying the ongoing missteps of President Bola Tinubu’s administration, which have only exacerbated the economic and social hardships in Nigeria.

Atiku Urges Leadership to Address Current Failures

Atiku Abubakar’s response to Bode George’s advice highlights his dedication to the present and future welfare of Nigerians. He suggests that rather than discussing the distant political future, leaders like George should direct their counsel towards correcting the current administration’s policies, which have plunged the nation into deeper poverty and division. Atiku asserts that the dire situation in Nigeria demands immediate attention and solutions, not early political strategizing for 2027.
