Nasarawa Police Investigate Tragic Suicide Linked to Alleged Marital Infidelity

In a heartbreaking incident, the Nasarawa State Police Command has launched an investigation into the death of a 38-year-old man, Gabriel Iliya Magaji, who allegedly took his own life over his wife’s infidelity. The tragic event occurred in the Masaka area of Karu Local Government Area, where Magaji was found hanging on Monday morning.

Police authorities, led by the Division Police Officer (DPO) of Masaka, responded to a report from a staff member of Crystal School. The individual had discovered the lifeless body of the man hanging inside one of the classrooms around 7 a.m. After the police arrived on the scene, the body was untied and transported to General Hospital Mararaba, where a doctor confirmed Magaji’s death.

While the police have not recovered a suicide note, an ongoing investigation aims to uncover the exact circumstances surrounding the man’s death. DSP Nansel Ramhan, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), emphasized that they are pursuing all angles, including the possibility that Magaji’s suicide was tied to his wife’s alleged infidelity, as rumors circulated on social media. Some reports suggest that Magaji discovered his friends had been engaging in inappropriate relations with his wife in exchange for money.

As the investigation deepens, the police are calling for calm while they work to determine what led to Magaji’s tragic decision to end his life.
